Drug den dismantled, 5 druggies arrested in Lanao Sur

Backed by soldiers from the Army's 34th Infantry Battalion, anti narcotics operatives arrested Thursday morning five persons allegedly engaged in peddling of illegal drugs in Wao town, Lanao del Sur.

Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said the five suspects were arrested during a buy bust operation in Barangay Eastern, Wao, Lanao del Sur.

The 6 a.m. operation also led to the dismantling of a drug den, Azurin said.

He identified the suspects as Cesar Caballero Delfin, 34, Jomar Delfin, 33, Allan Edris, 39, Ian Meliton, 29 and Maricel Ramos, 36, the alleged caretaker of the drug den.

Seized from the suspects were 34 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP136,000; 45 caliber pistol, mobile phones, and the buy bust money, the PDEA official said.

The suspects, now at the Wao police detention facility, will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
