Taguig city: Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque on Thursday underscored opportunities for growth for the creative industry, noting the sector’s rising contribution to domestic economic growth. In her speech during the opening ceremony of the Malikhaing Pinoy Expo at SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, Roque emphasized the importance of the industry for Filipinos by stating, ‘because this is really where we excel.’

She noted the country’s growing reputation in the gaming design and animation sectors, affirming the creative industry’s role as a driver of trade and tourism.
In 2024, the creative industry accounted for approximately 7.3 percent of the domestic economy’s growth. Roque also pointed out that Filipinos’ global recognition in the creative industry should be maximized, positioning it as a strategic pillar for economic growth and job creation. She reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating access to finance for small players within the industry.
Roque concluded with a strong message to the international community, inviting investments in the Philippines and its creative sector. ‘It is a policy direction rooted in our steadfast commitment to the empowerment of the Filipino people. Today, we are reaffirming what we have been telling the international community. The Philippines is ready. Invest in the Filipino. Invest in the Philippines. We encourage them to invest in our ideas, our stories, and our dreams,’ she added.
