MANILA President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday extended birthday greetings to Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Andanar, thanking him for sticking by his administration.
I would like to greet Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Office a very happy birthday, Duterte said in a 27-second video message sent to the PCOO chief.
Duterte also hoped Andanar, 45, would live a long life.
I am truly grateful for your support and contribution to my administration. I wish you all the best and may you live for a thousand years, he added.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, meanwhile, wished Andanar good health.
The best of everything especially good health. More bounties and blessings from the Almighty. Many happy returns on his natal day and cheers! Panelo said.
Under Andanar's leadership, the PCOO's attached media agencies particularly People's Television Network (PTV), Radyo ng Bayan, Radio-Television MalacaAang (RTVM) and Philippine News Agency (PNA) have significantly improved.
Andanar continues to urge Congress to prioritize the passage of the proposed Freedom of Information (FOI) bill which mandates the full disclosure of public records.
He also pushes for a closer Asean-China community, an environment free of fake news, and the protection of media workers.
Prior to joining the Duterte administration, Andanar was a multi-awarded television news executive, news anchor, radio commentator, podcaster, audio blogger and voice-over artist at TV5. (PNA)
