MANILA -- Caritas Manila appealed to the faithful to save PHP40 a day during the 40 days of Lent and donate the amount they saved to those who were in need, particularly to victims of calamities.
On its Facebook page, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila urged the faithful to join their Alay Kapwa's 40 for 40 Campaign for Lent where they could take part in several activities to save P40 per day.
The campaign will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 14.

At the end of the Lenten season that is a minimum of P1,600 that can be used as a lifeline by our brothers and sisters in times of life-threatening emergencies and crises, Caritas Manila added.
The campaign is part of Alay Kapwa, the annual Lenten evangelization and fundraising program of Church for social services of the poor and most in need, especially during times of disaster.
