Manila: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that four national road sections in Northern Luzon are still closed due to the impact of the southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area. These closures have been a result of various natural obstructions affecting the roadways.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 10 a.m. Sunday, the impassable road sections include the Baguio-Itogon Road at Sitio Goldfield, Brgy. Poblacion, Itogon, Benguet, and the Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road in Pinukpuk Jct., Pinukpuk, Kalinga, both due to soil collapse. Additionally, the Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Boundary Road in Balatoc, Pasil, Kalinga, is closed due to soil and rock collapse, while the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road at the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Brgy. Casibarag Norte, Cabagan, Isabela, and Maozzozzin, Sta. Maria, Isabela, remains shut due to high water elevation.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Maintenance has identified that the Cagayan-Apayao Road, specifically the Itawes Overflow Bridge 1 in Sta. Barbara, Piat, Cagayan, has been reopened to traffic. However, restrictions are still in place for two national road sections, which are currently limited to light vehicles only. These include Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet, affected by soil collapse, damaged slope protection, and road slip, and the Luyang-Poo-Lazi Road in Cangomantong, Lazi, Siquijor, which is experiencing road slip issues.
