MANILA Senatorial aspirant Bong Go on Tuesday said the victory of President Rodrigo Duterte's allies, who are vying for a seat in the upper chamber, can be attributed to the performance of the current administration.
Go, who placed third in the unofficial, partial tally of senatorial votes, said the May 13 mid-term elections can be treated as a referendum on the Duterte administration, with voters electing candidates that would support the reforms and programs of the President.
Sinuportahan ng mga Pilipino ang mga inendorso ng presidente dahil gusto nila magpatuloy ang pagbabagong sinimulan ng ni Tatay Digong (Filipinos have supported candidates endorsed by the President because they want continuity in the reforms initiated by Tatay Digong), Go said.
Ang mga major accomplishments ng kanyang administrasyon at ang kanyang mataas na satisfaction rating ay mga rason ng pagkakapanalo ko at ng mga kasamahan namin (The major accomplishments of his administration and his high satisfaction rating are the reasons behind our victory), Go added.
The former Special Assistant to the President thanked his supporters and Duterte for his likely victory in this year's polls.
I consider President Duterte as my second father and mentor. When I was by his side, I was truly honed to acquire that 'Tatak Duterte' service), Go said.
I also wish to thank my supporters, especially the volunteers, who stood by me amid the heat, rain, and dust and the sacrifices they had to go through as we toured the country to bring smiles and hope to the citizens), Go added.
Go vowed to double his efforts in the service of the Filipino people, as he enjoined everyone to unite in pushing the nation toward development.
Ipagpapatuloy ko ang naumpisahan natin. Tuloy ang pagbabago. Tuloy ang serbisyong Tatak Duterte para sa kapwa nating Pilipino (I will continue what this administration started. Change will continue. The 'Tatak Duterte' service will carry on for every Filipino), Go said.
Sama-sama nating iangat ang katayuan ng bawat Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng mabilis, maayos at maaasahang serbisyo mula sa gobyernong nagmamalasakit sa tao (Let us all uplift the lives of every Filipino through an efficient, effective, and reliable service from a government that has genuine concern for its people), Go added.
Among the candidates who are running under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) that are topping the senatorial race, based on partial unofficial results, are reelectionist Senators Cynthia Villar, Koko Pimentel and Sonny Angara, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go, former Senators Pia Cayetano and Bong Revilla, former Philippine National Police chief Bato dela Rosa and former Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.
The other three candidates who are also part of the top 12 are: reelectionist Senators Grace Poe and Nancy Binay and former Senator Lito Lapid.
On Monday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted the country's fourth nationwide automated polls since 2010. (PNA)
