Go receives call from Ocampo explaining arrest

MANILA Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher 'Bong' Go said Friday he received a phone call from former Bayan Muna congressman Satur Ocampo after the latter lwas arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly trafficking children.

Go revealed this as the military and police filed kidnapping and human trafficking charges against Ocampo and ACT Teacher party-list Rep. France Castro.

The former top aide of President Rodrigo Duterte said Ocampo explained to him that they were on a rescue mission when their convoy was stopped at a military checkpoint in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

Go told Ocampo he would rather leave the matter to the Philippine National Police (PNP) due to conflicting versions of the incident from the police and Ocampo's group.

According to media reports, Ocampo's group of 74 people on board five vans was apprehended transporting 12 minors from Sitio Igang in Barangay Palma Gil to Maco in Campostela Valley.

The group included 12 teachers and 29 students of lumad schools, four pastors and an administrator of the Salugpungan community learning center.

The learning center was closed as it was being used as recruitment center by the New People's Army (NPA).

The school is not accredited by the Department of Education. (PNA)
