Iloilo city: The local government of Iloilo City is set to release PHP1,500 fuel subsidy coupons to 1,600 public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and operators, who operate within the city's routes, starting April 9.
According to Philippines News Agency, Joy Gorzal, spokesperson for Mayor Raisa Tre±as, confirmed that the beneficiaries have been validated using the master list from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Western Visayas. Gorzal explained in a video message to the media that the release is strategically planned for April 9, which is a holiday, to minimize commuter traffic and ensure an organized distribution. Drivers will be able to redeem their subsidies at designated gasoline stations on April 11 and 12, between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.
To receive their fuel subsidy coupons, drivers must present their original driver's license. For redemption at the gasoline stations, they should provide their original driver's license along with a photocopy that includes three original specimen signatures. Gorzal also noted that the assistance is limited to one driver per unit, with a total of 1,782 jeepney units operating across the city's various routes.
Last week, the local government successfully distributed a PHP500 fuel subsidy to 1,718 tricycle operators and drivers association members. Additionally, Gorzal announced that the Department of Social Welfare and Development is scheduled to distribute PHP5,000 cash relief assistance on April 8. This aid will target 1,983 tricycle drivers and operators holding valid franchises from the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) and Motorized Tricycle Operator's Permit from the Business Permit and Licensing Division. To claim this relief, recipients must personally present their original professional driver's license along with two photocopies bearing three original specimen signatures.
