INDIA’S SEAN ROLDAN IS IN MALAYSIA FOR HIS MAIDEN SOLO SHOW ON MAY 12

Indian musician, Raghavendra Raja Rao, better known by his stage name Sean Roldan, 36, is in Malaysia for his maiden solo performance on Friday (May 12) at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Sean who shot to fame in 2014 with the movie “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum,” will be performing with his band consisting of talented Indian musicians as well as the National Symphony Orchestra Malaysia.

“This is my first big stage solo concert. Previously I was here for a small gig, way back in 2018 and I am looking forward to meeting my Malaysian fans on the big stage,” he told Bernama here, today.

Sean is set to perform his movie numbers as well as his independent songs.

Asked about the collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra Malaysia, he said: “Rehearsals was an experience in itself, can’t wait to perform with Datuk Mus Quartet on stage.”

Armed with his pristine music, the composer-singer is one of the few Indian virtuosos who have crossed over as an artiste exploring beyond his roots of classical music.

Other well-known artistes joining him in this show are Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Kalyani Nair, Sathyaprakash, Nithyasree, Manoj Krishna and Adithya RK.

The show is curated by the Aakaar Foundation, which kicked off in 2019 through the efforts of like-minded friends to promote and preserve the diversity of art and culture by engaging artistes of varied fortes to create artistic pieces that make an impact.

“This is Aakaar’s second collaboration with an Indian artiste after a successful show with the singer Pradeep Kumar in 2022 in Kuala Lumpur and 2023 in Penang. We hope this will be another unique experience for Malaysian concert-goers,” said Aakaar’s co-founder, S.Vinoth Kumar.

He said Aakaar has a few more projects in the pipeline, with local and foreign artistes.

The foundation is also trying to make a difference by organising concerts with the concept of sustainability by, among others, reducing the usage of plastics in any form.
