LPA, ITCZ to dampen most parts of PH Thursday

Two weather systems — the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the low pressure area (LPA) embedded along with it — will dampen most areas in the country Thursday, the weather bureau said.

The LPA, last tracked 220 kilometers southwest of Zamboanga City, has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

“However, it will continue to bring rains over Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao,” Grace Castañeda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA forecast scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over these areas due to the LPA and ITCZ.

“Take precaution and be alert against possible flooding and landslides,” Castañeda said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather due to the easterlies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago.
