MANILA -- A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The tectonic quake struck 136 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at around 3 p.m.
It had a depth of 24 kilometers.
Phivolcs is not expecting any damage from the earthquake, but aftershocks are possible, it said.
Meanwhile, Intensity 1 was recorded in Alabel, Sarangani and General Santos City.
