MANILA-- The Manila Police District (MPD) will be deploying 500 to secure Eid al-Fitr festivities on coming Monday.
This was bared by MPD spokesperson Supt. Erwin Margarejo during a press briefing Friday.
He added that they will also be deploying advance command posts to secure the public and monitor the traffic situation.
Margarejo added that the MPD will issue a traffic advisory on Sunday for the coming Eid al-Fitr activities along with the routes and paths where ambulances or health units will be deployed.
The Muslim population in Manila is centered in the Quiapo area and Eid al-Fitr celebrations are centered on the Golden Mosque and the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park.
Margarejo said the 500 police officers, along with the those who are in civilan attire and their bomb sniffing and detection dogs, will be divided to secure this year's participants to the Eid al-Fitr.
As of this posting, the MPD is still to detect any threats against this year's festivities.
