NBI: Lalaine Martinez involved in shooting incident, but not yet determined whether it’s ambush or not

MANILA-- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday night confirmed that Lalaine Madrigal Martinez, the wife of high profile inmate Noel Martinez and was one of those who testified in the Bilibid drug trade before the House of Representatives, was involved in a shooting incident.

The confirmation was made by NBI spokesman Atty. Ferdinand Lavin in a press conference on Monday evening where Lalaine also appeared before the members of the media.

However, Lavin said that it was still premature to say that the incident was an ambush.

The shooting incident happened on the night of Feb. 23, 2017.

Lavin described the trajectory of the bullet as downward, which they considered as from a 9-milimeter gun.

The bullet hit the windshield of the SUV (sports utility vehicle) driven by Lalaine.

Based on the forensic examination, the bullet came from or the shooter fired from a three-foot distance.

For her part, Lalaine said that the shooting incident took place in Barangay Carmona in Makati City.

She claimed that she came from Chino Roces and was on her way home when the incident happened.

Lalaine said that she just noticed that blood was oozing in her right arm and before that, she said, they heard a sound as if something was thrown at them, which turned out to be a bullet that penetrated in the windshield of her vehicle.

Because of fear, she said, she drove straight to her house and did not anymore come out to report the incident to the police.

Lalaine added that she has a friend who is a doctor whom she called up.

She stressed that her wound was not deep, hence, she did not anymore went to the hospital.

At the same time, personnel of the NBI also went to the scene of the incident to gather additional evidence. (PNA)
