With the annual Black Nazarene Procession or "Traslacion" just a few days away, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has alerted its stand-by force to respond to possible natural and human-inducted hazards during the observance of the religious event which will fall on Jan 9.
In the same vein, the NDRRMC through its National Response Cluster and National Incident Management Team, will provide support to agencies tasked to monitor and secure the annual event.
NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said their stand-by force consists of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and its National Capital Region affiliate, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).
"Response assets and personnel will be prepositioned to effectively respond to any emergency that may arise during the observance especially during the highlight of the feast, the Annual Traslacion. This complements the preparation done by the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, Manila City Government through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council," he added.
