Over P3.7M high-grade marijuana from Canada seized in Subic

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga: Authorities have seized more than two kilos of kush (high-grade marijuana) worth some PHP3.7 million from a male claimant following a controlled delivery operation conducted at the Crown Peak Gardens, Subic Bay Freeport Zone Monday afternoon.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), in its report, said the package containing the illegal drugs emanated from Canada and arrived at the Port of Clark on Sunday.

The arrested claimant was identified as Federico Cesar Flores-Luna alias Nestor Bustamante, 32, a resident of Opal Building, Crown Peak Gardens, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The PDEA received information from its foreign counterparts that the shipment of kush was arriving at the Freeport.

"The anticipated package containing kush was declared as 'window curtain' and underwent X-ray and K-9 inspections which indicated the presence of dangerous drugs,” the PDEA said.

The agency added that a physical examination was conducted which led to the discovery of five pouches containing 2,336 grams of dried kush leaves and fruiting tops with an estimated street value of PHP3,737,600.

The operation was jointly conducted by operatives from PDEA-Zambales, the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark and the Port of Subic.

A charge for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) will be filed against the arrested claimant
