MANILA The public may expect surges of cold temperature as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Friday the onset of "amihan" (northeast monsoon) season.
Weather specialist Benison Estareja earlier explained that during the "amihan" season, the northeast wind flow is expected to further intensify and become dominant over most parts of the archipelago.
In a statement on Thursday, PAGASA administrator Vicente Malano said strong to gale force winds have prevailed over the seaboards of northern Luzon in the past several days.
Gradual cooling of the surface air temperature over the northeastern part of Luzon has also been observed.
Such meteorological conditions indicate the onset of "amihan" season, Malano said. (PNA)
