MANILA -- MalacaAang on Thursday expressed elation over the results of an opinion survey showing the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte getting a record-high net satisfaction rating in the last quarter of 2017, saying the poll results showed that Filipinos recognize the efforts of the present government in nation building.
We're elated with the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing an excellent net satisfaction rating of the Duterte administration at +70. (The) December 2017 figure is a 12 point rise from September 2017, which was at +58, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said at a briefing in Legazpi City.
It is worth mentioning that the current administrations' 70 net satisfaction rating is considered record high by the SWS. It is also the highest net satisfaction rating received by any administration in the last 28 years, he added.
According to the SWS survey conducted Dec. 8 to 16, 2017, 79 percent said they were satisfied with President Duterte, 12 percent were dissatisfied and 9 percent were undecided.
The Duterte administration's net satisfaction rating of +70 or "excellent," the highest rating in the SWS scale, is the highest rating for the national government since 1989, surpassing the highest record achieved by the administration of Benigno Aquino III in June 2013 which was at +66 or very good.
SWS attributed the 12-point gain in the Duterte administration's net satisfaction rating between September to December 2017 to new "record-high net satisfaction scores" achieved in Mindanao, Metro Manila and Balance Luzon.
The government's satisfaction rating also hit a new record-high at an "excellent" +71 among the class D or "masa." The score was 11 points higher than September's +60.
The rating was "very good" at +66 in the poorest class E, and +62 among the richest class ABC.
In the meantime, Roque said the poll results also showed high public appreciation on the Duterte administration's handling of several national issues.
The SWS poll showed that the net rating of the present administration was "very good" on the following issues: fighting terrorism (+67); helping the poor (+66), building and maintenance of public works like roads and bridges (+59); foreign relations (+55); and providing jobs (+50).
Meanwhile, the survey said it was "good" on other national matters like reconciling with Muslim rebels (+48); telling the truth to the people (+47); defending the country's territorial rights (+46); protecting human rights (+45); reconciling with communist rebels (+43); fighting crimes (+43); eradicating graft and corruption (+42); and ensuring an efficient public transportation system (+42) among others.
Our people recognize the efforts of the Duterte administration when they rated the present government very good in fighting terrorism, helping the poor and maintenance of public works in correlation to providing jobs, Roque said.
Needless to say this excellent public confidence will continue to motivate the President and his team to continue working hard to lay down the conditions of a peaceful and prosperous nation, he added.
