The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has intensified its disaster response operations to help individuals affected by Taal Volcano's eruption last Sunday.
PCG Station in Talisay has successfully transported residents of several barangays in San Nicolas, Talisay, Nasugbu, and Lemery in Batangas going to their respective evacuation centers.
As of Monday noon, approximately 300 families have been transferred from the evacuation center in Talisay town going to a larger and safer evacuation center in Santo Tomas, Batangas.
The PCG has been distributing N95 masks to the evacuees, especially to children, senior citizens, and pregnant mothers.
The PCG District in Southern Tagalog has also deployed medical teams to provide assistance to evacuees who are experiencing difficulty in breathing and other health-related issues caused by inhaled ashfall.
PCG Task Force Taal headed by Commodore Art Abu has been activated to implement further disaster response measures, in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Response and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Batangas.
PCG assures affected individuals that more assistance is underway to ensure their safety and well-being amid ongoing calamity in South Luzon.
