PCG logs over 900K Holy Week travelers in W. Visayas

At least 909,731 passengers have been monitored in various ports all over Western Visayas region from April 2 to April 10 in line with the 'Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2023', according to the latest report of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). Data released by the Coast Guard District-Western Visayas as of 6 p.m. of April 10 included 482,896 outbound passengers and 426,835 inbound passengers who have traveled in the past nine days. The highest number of travelers was recorded by Coast Guard Station (CGS) in Aklan province, which hosts the famous Boracay Island in Malay town, with 182,033 outbound and 172,400 inbound passengers. This was followed by CGS-Iloilo, with 158,357 outbound and 124,638 inbound passengers; CGS-Guimaras - 91,221 outbound and 81,442 inbound travelers; CGS-North Negros Occidental - 46,731 outbound and 43,471 inbound passengers; CGS-Antique - 2,723 outbound and 2,996 inbound travelers; and CGS-Capiz - 1,822 outbound and 1,888 outbound passengers. In Western Visayas, around 366 personnel have been deployed for duty in all these stations to implement the Holy Week and summer vacation operational plan. During the period, the PCG has gone on heightened alert to enhance safety measures in ports and seaways across the country.
