PERAK MATTA SUGGESTS SETTING UP ANOTHER BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION CENTRE FOR CHINA TRAVEL

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents’ (MATTA) Perak chapter has suggested that a biometric authentication centre for travel to China be set up in the northern region of the country.

Perak MATTA exhibition organising chairman Wendy Shin said the facility should be provided as those in the north currently had to go to Kuala Lumpur for the authentication process.

"It should be established perhaps in the state of Penang or Perak to make it easier for the people in the region, as they will not have to go to Kuala Lumpur which involves time and extra cost for the tourists," she said during a press conference here today.

However, she said that so far there had been no complaints from tourists over the procedure as appointments could be made online and there were no long queues involved.

Meanwhile, MATTA is targeting sales of RM23 million through the exhibition which takes place from Aug 12-13.

Wendy said the exhibition at the Ipoh Convention Center (ICC) featuring 122 exhibition booths is expected to attract 20,000 visitors.
