Perpetual beats San Beda to boost semis bid in NCAA women’s volleyball

MANILA: University of Perpetual Help rallied past San Beda University, 20-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 15-6, to keep its semifinal campaign alive in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan on Tuesday. Shaila Allaine Omipon scored 26 points, 21 on attacks, in leading the Lady Altas to their third win in five outings. Reigning MVP Mary Rhose Dapol, on the other hand, contributed 17 points to go with 12 excellent digs as Perpetual joined Arellano University in fourth place. College of St. Benilde is on top of the standings at 5-0 followed by Lyceum of the Philippines University (4-0). Winnie Bedana chipped in 16 points, including five blocks, for the Lady Altas, who absorbed a 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 15-11 setback to the Lyceum Lady Pirates last Saturday. Angel Mae Habacon finished with 27 points, 24 on attacks, for San Beda, which took its fourth loss against one win. Kleinerross Abraham added nine attacks and three blocks while Milcah Flores produced 15 exc ellent receptions and 14 digs. University of Perpetual Help also beat San Beda, 25-14, 25-22, 25-22, in the men's division, with skipper Louie Ramirez delivering 15 attacks, one block and an ace. In the other women's match, Mapua University defeated Jose Rizal University, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19. Meanwhile, Lyceum of the Philippines will face Emilio Aguinaldo College at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the men's division, followed by the women's game at 10 a.m. CSB will meet Arellano University at 2 p.m. in the men's division, before the women's game at 5 p.m. Source: Philippines News Agency
