The Philippine peso settled at 49.82 to the US dollar during Wednesday's trading, ending sideways from Tuesday's finish of 49.81 to the greenback.
The peso opened the day at 49.79, compared to the previous day's opening of 49.80.
The currency pair traded between PHP49.77 and PHP49.84, bringing the day's average to PHP49.81.
Volume of trade increased to USD288.3 million from USD209.5 million on Tuesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi), on the other hand, gained 2.83 percent or 188.24 points to 6,846.44 points.
The All Shares index also improved by 1.96 percent or 79.57 points to 4,150.17 points.
All sectors finished the day's trading in the green with increments led by Holding Firms at 3.09 percent or 209.47 points to 6,997.64 points.
This was followed by Property, up by 2.59 percent to 3,045.01 points; Services, up by 2.38 percent to 1,290.47 points; Industrial, up by 2.19 percent to 10,723.84 points; Financials, up by 1.74 percent to 1,662.86 points; and Mining and Oil, up by 0.29 percent to 11,855.13 points.
Total value of trade on Wednesday's trading amounted to PHP3.45 billion.
Advancers outnumbered decliners at 119 to 58 while 47 closed unchanged.
