MANILA The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday announced that the Philippines and Germany have already exchanged instruments of ratification of the Social Security Agreement (SSA) in Manila on March 23, marking the deal's effectivity on June 1, 2018.
The SSA was signed in Berlin, Germany on September 19, 2014. Three years after, the Senate of the Philippines concurred in the ratification of the said agreement on January 22, 2018.
Upon its effectivity on June 1, 2018, the agreement is expected to contribute to equality of treatment and allow the exportability of benefits to nationals of both countries, improve processing of claims and eliminate dual coverage.
The DFA said a protocol documenting the exchange was signed by Undersecretary Enrique Manalo and German Ambassador Gordon Kricke.
