BACOLOD CITY-- Secretary Martin Andanar will lead the staging of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Roadshow in this city on Friday, March 24.
The road show, the fifth leg in the Philippines' hosting of ASEAN Summit 2017, will be held at Sugarland Hotel starting 8 a.m.
During the event, Andanar will deliver the keynote speech, and will discuss the four significant milestones so far under the Duterte administration -- the ASEAN Summit 2017, Presidential Task Force on Media Security, Freedom of Information, and Social Media in Participative Government.
The PCOO's principal task is to communicate the government policies to the masses, to provide information, and to make people understand the policies of the government, Andanar said.
The roadshow will also feature the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017, Ang Bagong Philippine Information Agency, the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, Executive Order No. 2 and the Freedom of Information, New Media Communications for Participatory Governance, and Administrative Order No. 1 and the Protection of Journalists.
Through these, stakeholders from various sectors will be informed and can engage in key government milestones and priorities.
The roadshow will cap the four-day ASEAN Summit 2017 activities in this city, which was highlighted by the two-day 15th Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Officials/Ministers Responsible for Information on March 22 and 23 at SMX Convention Center Bacolod.
The SOMRI meeting is chaired by PCOO Undersecretary Noel Puyat, who said the main objective of the ASEAN 2017 meetings is to find ways to effectively communicate and promote ASEAN's meaning and identity.
