’Shop and learn’ at summer trade fair in Ilocos Norte

Genuine and quality Ilokano products are up for grabs at the ongoing summer trade fair organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

The 14th Partuat Ti Kailokuan Trade Fair is held in partnership with the provincial government from April 20 to 25 and showcases the talent, craft, and ingenuity of 46 homegrown micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs from the province.

DTI provincial director Rosario Quodala said Friday the annual summer trade fair, held at Robinsons Mall, got a twist this year as both buyers and exhibitors get a chance to learn from each other through seminars and demonstrations.

“We have prepared a series of activities where interested individuals can participate in the programs and services being offered by the DTI,” she said.

At the exhibit hall, the DTI has scheduled seminars and craft demonstrations on souvenir-making, coffee preparation, and peanut processing direct from the manufacturers who are exhibiting their products.

Among the products featured are houseware and decors, wearables and fashion items, gift and souvenirs, fresh and processed food, wellness products, and many more.

In celebration of the National Intellectual Property Month, the exhibitors, including other interested individuals at the exhibit hall, were oriented on Friday about the importance of registering their products with the Intellectual Property Office for their own security and protection.

Those interested in coffee preparation and peanut processing business may join a seminar on Saturday and Sunday where experts will conduct an actual demonstration of their products.

The DTI expressed hope that the trade fair could help homegrown entrepreneurs here slowly recover from the impact of the global pandemic.
