Southwest monsoon to bring more rains to Ilocos: PAGASA

MANILA Expect rains in Ilocos on Saturday, as the southwest monsoon will bring showers to the region at least until Saturday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms would prevail over Ilocos due to the southwest monsoon. PAGASA cautioned of possible flooding in low-lying areas.

Other areas in the country, including Metro Manila, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.

The bureau also warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains in these areas.

The northern and western part of north Luzon and the western section of central Luzon will also have moderate to rough coastal waters due to moderate to strong winds from the southwest.

Other parts of the country are forecast to have slight to moderate coastal waters caused by light to moderate winds from the south to southwest.

PAGASA said the country will have a temperature range of 17C to 34C until next Tuesday.

On Friday, PAGASA recorded a peak temperature of 31C and a minimum temperature of 24C at its weather station in Quezon City. (PNA)
