MANILA: A lone bettor from Davao del Sur province became an instant millionaire after guessing the right six-digit combination of the Lotto 6/42 on Tuesday night.
In an advisory Wednesday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said the bettor guessed the winning combination of 34-24-02-06-33-07, which carried a total jackpot prize of PHP35,314,806.60.
The ticket was purchased in Davao City, Davao del Sur.
The bettor can claim the check at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City upon presentation of the winning ticket and two identification cards.
Lotto winnings of more than PHP10,000 shall be subject to a 20 percent tax under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law.
A total of 27 bettors won PHP24,000 each for guessing five out of the six winning digits; 1,357 will get PHP800 each for four correct digits; and 25,109 will settle for PHP20 each for three correct digits.
The 6/42 Lotto is drawn every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Tricycle driver claims lotto prize
Meanwhile, the PCSO said one of the two jackpot winners of Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot prize of PHP142,580,483 drawn last Jan. 7 claimed the prize at its main office in Mandaluyong City.
The winning tickets were bought in Calamba City, Laguna province and Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.
A 50-year-old tricycle driver from Calamba City finally claimed his winnings at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City. He won half of the jackpot prize after purchasing a ticket with the winning combination 44-13-19-33-27-39.
The winner said he has been playing lotto for over a decade.
Several years ago, he also won a second prize for matching five out of six numbers on the same lotto draw. He said that these lucky numbers are completely random, and he has always picked them as his betting numbers ever since that second-prize win.
When asked how he plans to spend his winnings, he said, “Unang-una, ibibili ko ito ng lupa, magpapatayo ako ng mga apartments, private resort at iba pang mga negosyo. Ilalaan ko rin ang iba para sa pag-aaral ng dalawa kong mga anak (First, I will buy it land, I will build apartments, private resort and other businesses. I will also spend the rest for my two children's education).”
He also urged all patrons not to lose faith and to continue playing PCSO games because a large portion of the proceeds goes to the agency's various programs and services which help individuals and institutions in need of medical and financial assistance.
“Lubos po ang aking pasasalamat sa PCSO. Sa mga kapwa ko manlalaro, patuloy sana nating tangkilikin pa ang lotto at maniwala dahil di lang tayo ang nagkakaroon ng pag-asa, maging ang mga taong nabibigyan ng tulong at kalinga ng PCSO. Tunay na darating sa buhay natin ang suwerte (I am very thankful to PCSO. To my fellow players, let's continue to enjoy the lottery and believe because we are not the only ones who have hope, even the people who receive help and protection from PCSO. Luck will surely come to our lives),” he said.
To avoid forfeiture of winnings, winners have one year from the date of the draw to claim the prize, as specified in Republic Act 1169.
To claim prizes, winners must write their names and sign at the back of the winning ticket, and present two government-issued IDs.
Last Jan. 11, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles handed over a check worth PHP488,108.06 to Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon, as the city’s share from Small Town Lottery (STL) sales for the months of July to September 2022.
Biazon was very pleased with the arrival of Robles in his office and the assistance provided by the PCSO.
He mentioned that the share will help augment their funds in bringing more programs and services for his constituents.
“Kami po ay natutuwa at nagagalak na nagreach out mismo sa ating bayan ang PCSO para mag-extend ng assistance. Sa dami po ng mga kababayan natin na nangangailangan, napakalaking tulong po nito para sa kanila. Maraming salamat po PCSO (We are happy and glad that PCSO reached out to our city to extend assistance. With so many of our compatriots in need, this is a huge help for them. Thank you PCSO),” said Biazon.
Small Town Lottery (STL) shares are granted to cities/municipalities and provinces in accordance with the 2020 STL Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations. The grant of Lotto shares is pursuant to Executive Order No. 357-A, which allocates 5 percent of the PCSO Charity Fund to local government units in cities/municipalities and 2 percent to provinces where Lotto tickets are sold.
Robles urged the public to support the agency’s gaming products in order to raise additional revenue for health initiatives, medical services, and other national charities.
The more Lotto outlets a municipality or city has, the higher the shares it will receive.
Through its mandatory contributions, the PCSO not only helps individuals in need of medical assistance but also provides funds to government institutions
