Trump Signals US Support Amid Intensifying Unrest in Iran

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States is prepared to support Iranians amidst ongoing protests throughout the country, emphasizing that the situation is a significant moment for the people of Iran.

According to Philippines News Agency, Trump expressed his views on the protests via his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!" The demonstrations, which began on December 28 near Tehran's Grand Bazaar, have spread to numerous cities, driven largely by the plummeting value of the Iranian rial and worsening economic conditions.

Further statements from Trump on Friday pointed to Iran being "in big trouble" as the unrest intensified. He clarified that Washington is keeping a close watch on the developments and cautioned Iranian authorities against employing lethal measures against the protesters. Meanwhile, the Iranian government has accused the US and Israel of inciting the unrest, with officials declaring that security forces and the judiciary "will show no tolerance whatsoever toward saboteurs."
