MANILA-- Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) expects thunderstorms, light to moderate rain and moderate to strong winds in the country this week from the southwest monsoon or 'habagat' which the typhoon with international name 'Noru' may enhance.
The enhanced 'habagat' may cause such conditions in Southern Luzon as well as some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, said PAGASA.
On Tuesday (Aug. 1), PAGASA located 'Noru' outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at some 1,760 km east-northeast of Basco municipality in Northern Luzon's Batanes province.
'Noru' then packed maximum sustained winds of 170 kph and gustiness of up to 210 kph, PAGASA said.
PAGASA forecast 'Noru' to move west-northwest at 9 kph.
