MANILA-- Tropical Depression Crising, as of Saturday noon, has slightly weakened, with maximum sustained winds of up to 45 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, as it heads towards Samar.
According to the state weather bureau, PAGASA, 'Crising' was last spotted at 155 km. east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, moving west northwest at 20 kph.
PAGASA estimates moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall within 250-km. diameter of the tropical depression.
Sorsogon, Burias Island, Romblon, Masbate (including Ticao Island), Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, northern Cebu, northern Negros Occidental, northern Samar, eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte and southern Leyte are currently under tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) number 1.
Residents of these areas have been warned against possible flash floods and landslides.
The bureau said TCWS 1 may also be raised over the Calamian Group of Islands and Mindoro this afternoon.
The tropical depression is expected to make landfall over Samar on the afternoon of Black Saturday, according to PAGASA.
