CSC announces semi-finalists of the 2016 Outstanding Government Workers

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has released the names of semi-finalists of the 2016 Search for Outstanding Government Workers.

"We are pleased to announce that five (5) individuals and two (2) teams made it to the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award shortlist, four (4) individuals and two (2) groups for the CSC Pagasa Award, and nine (9) individuals qualified as semi-finalists for the Dangal ng Bayan Award," said CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award (PLB) is conferred to an individual or group of individuals for exceptional or extraordinary contributions resulting from an idea or performance that had nationwide impact on public interest and national security.

Semi-finalists of the PLB are: Visayas State University Professor Jose L. Bacusmo, Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute Director IV Mario C. Capanzana, Department of Education-Malita South District Teacher I Aida I. Maniego, Philippine Air Force Brig. General Ebuen Air Base Master Sergeant Perfecto L. Perez, Departmert of Public Works and Highways Former Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, Bayawan City Local Flood Early Warning and Rescue Team, and the Verdant Team of Bala Elementary School, Davao del Sur.

The Dangal ng Bayan (DnB) Award is conferred to an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of the employee's observation of the eight norms of conduct under Republic Act No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Semi-finalists of the DnB are: Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Light Equipment Operator Nixon C. Aquino, National Food Authority-Tuguegarao, Cagayan Mechanical Plant Operator III Wenceslao P. Caranguian, Municipal Government of Datu Civiil Registrar Lanie A. CastaAares, Barangay No. 01, San Lorenzo, Laoag, Ilocos Norte Punong Barangay Darwin M. Domingo, University of the Philippines (UP) - Diliman Assistant Professor 7 Joselito G. Florendo, Dapa Central Elementary School and SPED Center Teacher I Rio Ador C. Gabaisen, Department of Social Welfare and Development-Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City Social Welfare Officer III Sonia E. Ipang, Municipal Government Unit of Tublay, Benguet Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer II Abner O. Mawangen, and Belison National School, Antique Secondary School Principal III Noel A. Polaron.

The CSC Pagasa Award is conferred to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contributions resulting from an idea or performance which directly benefit more than one department of the government.

Semi-finalists for the CSC Pagasa Award are: Department of National Defense-Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Director IV Nebuchadnezzar S. Alejandro, Baliwag Water District General Manager B Artemio F. Baylosis, Provincial Government of Agusal del Sur Governor Adolph Edward G. Plaza, Lucena City National High School Head Teacher I Maria Corazon A. Rubio, Provincial Rice Program Implemental Team from Lingayen, Pangasinan, and The Synergist from the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

The annual Search for Government Workers seeks to recognize exemplary employees in the civil service.

Individual semi-finalists will be granted P20,000, while group semi-finalists will receive P30,000 from the CSC.

Lingkod Bayan awardees will receive a cash prize of P200,000, a gold-gilded medallion, and a plaque containing the citation and signature of the President of the Philippines. Dangal ng Bayan awardees will receive a cash prize of P200,000 and trophy designed by National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon V. Abueva. Pagasa awardees will receive a cash prize of P100,000, gold-gilded medallion, and a plaque containing the citation and signature of the CSC chairperson.
