DOTr conducts online streaming of bidding process for projects

MANILA-- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has conducted an online livestreaming of pre-bid conferences and opening of bids for its projects.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said the initiative aims to ensure transparency and good governance in the department.

Some 52 bidding conferences have already been streamed online by the DOTr since May 29, 2017.

In an earlier statement, Tugade reiterated that he will enforce strict observance of bidding and procurement processes and will not interfere in the affairs of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

The BAC should be an independent body from the Secretary. I will not allow anyone to discuss with me projects that are undergoing procurement. I will only be open to official discussions once the procurement process has been finalized, and complete documentation is already on my table, he said.

Tugade also urged the public to monitor and observe the department's bidding and procurement proceedings and to report any anomalous incidents.

I am serious with my no-corruption campaign inside the DOTr. I encourage everyone to remain vigilant in our fight against the corruption, according to the transportation secretary.
