MANILA-- It's all system go for the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in its security preparations for President Rodrigo Duterte's second State-of-the-Nation-Address (SONA) on July 24.
An estimated 6,000 police officers are expected to secure this year's activities.
Police officers tasked for SONA duty are now at "100 percent readiness" along with their force multipliers, said NCRPO head Director Oscar Albayalde in a Tuesday briefing.
He added that police teams will be gradually deployed to the Batasang Pambansa Complex and its environs starting this weekend.
An estimated 15,000 rallyists and protesters are expected during the SONA event.
The NCRPO chief reminded them (rallyists/protesters) to comply with their "15-20 meter" rule when conducting protest actions near the Batasan Pambansa Complex.
Albayalde said full deployment of their force will start 4 a.m. of July 24.
A six-kilometer "no-fly zone" will also be implemented around the Batasan Pambansa Complex as an added security measure.
Authorities, however, stressed that no terror threats were detected yet as of this posting.
