Timberwolves' Rubio to play streetballers (Philippine Star)

MANILA, Philippines – Minnesota Timberwolves’ Spanish guard Ricky Rubio is set to arrive tonight as part of a two-country tour for top sports apparel Adidas with a pickup game with Manila streetballers in one of the highlights of his visit.

The 24-year-old Rubio, drafted fifth overall by the Wolves in 2009, will meet the media tomorrow and will then proceed to Intramuros, Manila for a tour along with some Adidas ambassadors.

Some of Adidas’ local endorsers expected to join Rubio in the fiesta-like Intramuros tour are showbiz personalities Solenn Heussaff, Belle Daza, Anne Curtis and Jasmine Curtis and Azkals stars Phil and James Younghusband.

Joining the group are UST’s Aljon Mariano, Renzo Subido and Kevin Ferrer, Ateneo’s Arvin Tolentino, National U’s Gelo Alolino, University of the East’s Roi Sumang, University of the Philippines’ Kyles Lao and Diego Dario and Barako Bull’s JC Intal.

Rubio, who normed 10.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 2.3 steals in four seasons, is also set to play some pick up games with some selected streetballers from around Manila.

On Saturday, Rubio will visit one of Adidas branches to promote the Adidas x Titan Trial Run of the Crazy Light Boost 2015 where he will be joined by celebrity guests Gerald Anderson, Rayver Cruz and Vhong Navarro.
