Bacolod cops seize P22-M ‘shabu’ in 2021

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has recovered a total of PHP22.03 million in suspected shabu in various anti-illegal drug operations from January to December 2021.

A report of the BCPO showed the seized prohibited substance reached 3,566.76 grams valued at PHP6,800 per gram.

Lt. Liberty Indiape, deputy public information officer of BCPO, said on Wednesday police operatives are relentless in the campaign against illegal drugs under the close supervision of city director, Col. Thomas Joseph Martir.

“The Bacolod police wants to ensure a peaceful and orderly city especially with the coming national and local elections,” she added.

In the past year, drug enforcement teams conducted 561 police operations that resulted in the arrest of 750 drug personalities.

Arrested were 23 high-value individuals, 711 street-level individuals, 13 minors, and three newly-identified drug personalities.

Some 1,080 cases were filed in court against the suspects for violation of the various sections of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, units under the BCPO arrested 22 violators of the campaign against loose firearms and confiscated 25 small and homemade firearms in the past year.

Under the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Katok on the annual verification of firearms, the BCPO received 103 surrendered small and homemade firearms and explosives, and 34 deposited guns, and also recovered 10 other firearms.

In 2021, police units in Bacolod also arrested 111 most wanted persons and 490 other wanted persons.
