Bacolod grants gratuity pay to JO, contractual workers

The city government here will release gratuity pay to all its job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) personnel as a year-end grant in line with Administrative Order (AO) 46 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said in a statement on Thursday he has directed the appropriate offices to make necessary preparations for the release of the incentive.

“The city still has sufficient funds amid the Covid-19 pandemic and despite the Typhoon Odette that recently hit Bacolod,” he added.

Section 5 of AO 46 enjoins local government units to extend gratuity pay to JO and contractual workers, if they have the financial capability to do so.

Those qualified to receive the grant will get a maximum of PHP5,000 to a minimum of PHP2,000 each, depending on the length of service.

A worker is entitled to a one-time PHP5,000 additional incentive if he or she has rendered a total or, an aggregate, of at least four months of actual satisfactory performance of service.

Those who have rendered three months or more but less than four months will receive PHP4,000 each while personnel with two months or more but less than three months will be given PHP3,000.

Workers with less than two months of service are entitled to PHP2,000.

According to AO 46, the year-end grant is a “well-deserved recognition of their hard work in implementing programs, projects and activities, including those which are part of the emergency Covid-19 response efforts of the government.”

“Let me also thank our good Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the entire City Council for ratifying the proposed granting of the one-time incentive,” Leonardia said.
