Over 1,400 Pangasinenses including children and the adult population have been inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in a mall-based vaccination rollout in the province.

The provincial government of Pangasinan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), partnered with the Robinsons Place for the conduct of inoculation to ramp up the immunization drive against Covid-19.

“Dinadala na rin natin sa mall ang vaccination program kasi maganda dahil marami tayong nababakunahan. Una na nating dinala ito sa (We are already bringing the vaccination program in malls because we are able to inoculate more here. We first brought this in) SM Rosales on November 8,” PTCAO special events coordinator Marife Acerit said in an interview on Thursday.

She said the mall-based vaccination “seems to be advantageous” because of its strategic location following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions by the government.

“Magsu-survey ulit kami at kung marami pa ang gustong magpabakuna, babalik kami (We are going to conduct another survey and if many would still signify then we will do it again),” she added.

Among the Covid-19 vaccines administered were Pfizer for children, while Sinovac and AstraZeneca for the general population during the mall-based vaccination on Wednesday.

Acerit said the inoculation for the second dose of those who availed at Robinson’s mall will be given this December 9.

She said the province targets to reach 80 to 100-percent vaccination rate before the year ends.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Rachel Macaalay of this town said she wanted to get vaccinated to have another layer of protection against the dreaded Covid-19.

“Gusto kong magpabakuna para makaiwas sa malalang epekto ng Covid-19 at maging ligtas ako ( I wanted to get the vaccine to prevent severe effects of Covid-19 and so I would be safe),” she said.
