22% drop in index, non-index crimes logged in Caraga

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) reported a decrease in the index and non-index crimes in the region.

In a statement Friday, PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. reported a significant drop of 22.3 percent in the Peace and Order Index that comprises the totality of index and non-index crimes in Caraga.

The data was recorded during the second quarter of 2021 as compared to the same period in 2020.

“Data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of PRO-13 indicated the 423 decreases in the Peace and Order Index, or 1,897 in the second quarter of 2020, down to 1,474 in the same period in 2021,” Caramat said.

He added that the Peace and Order Index reflects the true picture of crime and the peace and order situation of a particular community.

“This figure is the result of continuous efforts of the more than 7,000 Caraga cops to prevent and control crimes and maintain peace and order in the region,” he said.

He also recognized the vital role of communities that serve as allies of the police units and stations in the efforts to make the Caraga region a safer place to live in.
