BACOLOD CITY – The latest shipment of 42,600 doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac jabs for Negros Occidental and this capital arrived at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City on Wednesday, a report from the Office of Civil Defense-Western Visayas showed.
Based on the allocation list of the National Vaccination Operations Center, 34,800 doses went to Negros Occidental while 7,800 doses were dispatched to Bacolod City.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the supply for the province will again be distributed by the Provincial Health Office to all 31 local government units.
“I understand, tomorrow they will roll out the vaccines we just received,” he said in a telephone interview with reporters.
Meanwhile, the provincial government will continue administering Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines until July 2 in two sites — the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and the Capitol-owned Negros Residences in this city.
In Bacolod, the newly-arrived vaccines will be added to the current 15,000 doses being rolled out in various vaccination centers, including those in three shopping malls, and barangay, and school clusters.
In June alone, Bacolod has received a total of 39,800 doses of Sinovac, including 10,000 doses on June 5; 7,000 doses on June 8; 15,000 doses on June 23; and 7,800 doses on June 30.
In both the province and city, the vaccine rollout is still for residents under the top three priority groups, including frontline healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and adults with comorbidities (A3).
