73 new Covid-19 survivors up Region 11’s recovery tally to 53.9K

The Davao Region has logged 73 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of recoveries to 53,927 as of Sunday.

In its Covid-19 bulletin on Aug. 29, the Department of Health in Region 11 (DOH-11) said this reflects a 79.8 percent recovery rate out of a total of 67,615 infections since the pandemic started last year.

The city topped with the most number of recoveries at 30,790, followed by Davao del Norte (10,297), Davao Oriental (4,098), Davao de Oro (3,951), Davao del Sur (3,731), and Davao Occidental (1,060).

Of the 2,662 persons tested, 667 tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of active cases to 11,543. Of the new cases, 386 are from the city, 90 are from Davao del Norte, 58 are from Davao Oriental, 49 are from Davao de Oro, 49 are from Davao Occidental, and 35 are from Davao del Sur.

The new cases reported were due to local transmission. A total of 18 new deaths were also reported — seven from Davao City, four from Davao del Norte, four from Davao de Oro, and three from Davao Oriental.

With the current Covid-19 cases, DOH-11 reported that the region has 48.1 percent available intensive care unit beds, 39.5 percent available isolation beds, 20.9 percent available ward beds, and 67 percent available mechanical ventilators.
