A total of 356,313 Bacolodnons or 86.76 percent of its target population have received at least one dose of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine as of December 6, the city government here said Friday.

The figure consists of 283,107 individuals who are fully vaccinated, comprising 69 percent of the total vaccinable population, and 73,206 individuals or 17.82 percent, who are partially vaccinated, data from the Regional Vaccination Operations Center in Western Visayas showed.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, medical deputy of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), said with only more than 13 percent still unvaccinated, the city is expected to achieve population protection before the end of the year.

He said the influx of Bacolodnons during the National Covid-19 Vaccination Days, dubbed “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” from November 29 to December 1, made the city surpass its three-day target of 66,171 administered doses by almost 7 percent to 70,752 doses.

“The renewed interest to be protected against Covid-19 was spurred by the local government unit’s strong information and education campaign with the cooperation of the private sector, barangay leaders, and medical front-liners,” Sorongon said.

During the two-day extension on December 2 and 3, about 3,141 more Bacolod residents were inoculated.

Bacolod will also take part in the second phase of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” on December 15 to 17.
