Some 1,078 personnel of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of Aug. 10.

The figures represent 92 percent of the 1,169 total force of the BCPO, who have either received one or two doses.

Maj. Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of BCPO, on Wednesday said Col. Manuel Placido, police city director, is among those who have received the vaccine.

Gabana, who has also been vaccinated, said they availed of the Covid-19 jabs through the city government.

“The city director expresses his sincere gratefulness to the Bacolod local government unit for allotting vaccines to the BCPO personnel. He spearheaded the initiative for the police being front-liners in the fight to manage the spread of Covid-19 in the city,” he added.

The 1,078 vaccinated personnel include 34 police commissioned officers, 998 police non-commissioned officers, and 46 non-uniformed personnel, who were administered with various brands of Covid-19 shots.

The number of fully vaccinated city police personnel is not yet available.

Gabana said the inoculation of the BCPO personnel, held in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center, was held at the main headquarters and in various vaccination centers of the city.

“With most of the BCPO personnel getting the vaccine, cases of infection among its members is expected to be minimal, if not a zero at all. We hope to help minimize the spread of the virus in the community,” he added.
