Antique on Alert Level 3 due to rising Covid-19 cases

The increasing cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the province of Antique have escalated its classification by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) from the current Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 effective Friday.

Antique Provincial IATF on Covid-19 secretary Margie Gadian said with the reclassification, Antiqueños shall expect stricter policies.

“The Provincial IATF will be meeting Friday in order to come up with new policies that will take effect immediately also,” she said in an interview Thursday.

Gadian said they are advised to stay at home if possible and strictly observe the minimum health protocol such as wearing of face mask and observing safe physical distancing.

Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, in a press statement, advised people to avoid gathering especially if they do not belong to the same household.

“Since the disease is fast spreading and affects whole household, immediate isolation of individuals with symptoms is necessary so as not to affect other members, and seek medical advice if needed,” the governor said.

Based on the latest report of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), the province on January 12 has 212 active cases out of the total 6,352 total confirmed cases, 5, 851 recoveries, and 289 deaths.

Meanwhile, San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Elmer Untaran, in virtual press conference on Wednesday, said 10 barangays in his town are under granular lockdown since January 10 for having four or more Covid-19 cases.

“The barangays under granular lockdown for two weeks are Atabay, Badiang, Funda-Dalipe, San Pedro, Supa and barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,” he said.

San Jose de Buenavista, as of January 12, has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the province with 111 active cases; 104 are under home quarantine, five are admitted at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) and two at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) in Barangay Dalipe.
