A village in the northern municipality of Sebaste in Antique province is enforcing a one entry-one exit policy to limit the movement of people in their barangay starting Wednesday until August 15, 2021.

“Although we have right now no coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) active case but we are putting up the one entry-one exit so we could limit the movement of people,” said Barangay Idio Chairperson Pamela Socorro Azucena, in an interview Wednesday, adding that the protocol covers both residents and non-residents.

She said only 10 persons are allowed to go out each day, except for those who have to go out to work. They are also required to secure a travel pass that they have to present to officials manning the entry-exit point.

Azucena added that their barangay has passed an ordinance imposing a penalty for those caught violating the minimum health protocol.

For the non-wearing of face mask, those caught the first time will be fined PHP200, PHP500 for the second time, and PHP800 for the third offense.

Azucena, also president of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) of Antique, said the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has called out barangay officials to carry out their duties and responsibilities in preventing the spread of the Covid-19.

In a virtual meeting on August 3, DILG regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said barangay chairpersons should strictly implement the minimum public health standards (MPHS) and go massive with information dissemination so their constituents will understand why they have to stay in their homes to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

Antique, which is on general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions until August 15, has three recorded cases of the contagious Delta variant.
