Borongan City launches raffle draw for vaccinated residents

In a bid to encourage more residents to get vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the city government of Borongan in Eastern Samar has launched a raffle draw for fully vaccinated individuals.

The city government on Wednesday said prizes at stake include a brand new motorcycle, flat-screen television, refrigerator, washing machine, electric oven, rice cooker, grocery package, and a sack of rice.

Raffle draw is set for February 14.

“All residents of Borongan 12 years and above who have been inoculated against Covid-19 have an automatic raffle entry. Names of fully vaccinated is now in our database. It will be printed as a raffle entry,” the city government said in its announcement.

The raffle draw will be viewed by Borongan residents live on February 14 through the Borongan City Information Office Facebook page.

Data from the Department of Health regional office here shows that as of January 31, some 41,164 residents are now fully vaccinated while 45,338 others have received at least one dose.

There are 4,355 individuals who got booster doses.

As of January 26, Borongan City has already recorded 1,205 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 979 recoveries, and 30 deaths. The city has 196 active cases.
