The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental thanked the City Health Office (CHO) here for allocating 100 slots for the vaccination of business process outsourcing (BPO) workers against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Chary May Bacong, Human Resources and Administration head of Peak Outsourcing, Inc., and the group’s board secretary said Wednesday the BPO workers’ inoculation is set Thursday morning at the Robinsons Place shopping mall here.

“We have distributed the 100 jabs to all 20 BPO companies on our list to make sure we will all be represented on this day,” she said.

The association had earlier asked Governor Roel Degamo to prioritize the vaccination of BPO workers, who fall under the A4 priority sector since many of them have to physically report to the office.

Bacong said they are thankful that their request has been granted even though only 100 slots were initially allocated. She hoped more of their employees would soon be vaccinated.

There are an estimated 12,000 BPO/ICT workers in this capital and the province of Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, records at the City Health Office show that as of Aug. 2, a total of 16,470 residents have been administered with Covid-19 vaccines.
