Covid-19 cases overwhelm QC-run hospitals

MANILA – Two of three local government-run hospitals of Quezon City are now at full capacity in terms of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients while quarantine facilities are filling up.

In a Facebook post by the QC government on Friday, the city’s 12 HOPE quarantine facilities for Covid-19 patients are at 82.82 percent, with 1,402 out of 1,693 beds already occupied.

The QC General Hospital in Project 8 has a 98-percent occupancy rate with 107 patients; Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital on Batasan Road is 100-percent full; and the Novaliches District Hospital has a 120.80 percent occupancy rate with 58 patients.

The City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit reminded those who will test positive for Covid-19 to immediately isolate.

“Kung kayo ay nangangailangan ng pasilidad para sa mga Covid-19 mild or asymptomatic patients, makipag-ugnayan sa inyong barangay para ma-admit sa ating (If you need a facility for Covid-19 mild or asymptomatic patients, kindly coordinate with your barangay so that you will be admitted in our) HOPE facilities,” the QC post read.

As of 8 a.m. on Friday, the city has 9,371 active Covid-19 cases while 63 areas are under Special Concern Lockdown due to increasing cases. (PNA)
