DOH-13 wants vax fast-tracking at LGU levels

The Department of Health – Caraga (DOH-13) has recommended the fast-tracking of vaccination at the level of local government units in the region amid the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections.

Dr. Cesar Cassion, DOH-13 director, made the recommendation Tuesday during a regular meeting of the Response Cluster of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center here.

To date, the region has recorded a cumulative total of 50,699 Covid-19 confirmed cases, with 47,360 cumulative recoveries and 1,904 deaths.

Active Covid-19 cases in the region are now at 1,435 with 263 new infections reported as of Monday night.

In its latest vaccination report dated January 16, the DOH-13 said a total of 1,169,347 individuals in the Caraga have been fully vaccinated.

“The number represents 41.61 percent of the target population in the region,” it said in its report.

The agency said it has administered a total of 2,488,266 Covid-19 vaccines.

The most number of individuals fully vaccinated in the region are those in the A4 priority group or frontline personnel in essential sectors with 296,071.

The group with the second-highest number of fully vaccinated individuals is the A3 category or persons with comorbidities with 205,616.

A total of 162,441 individuals under the rest of the pediatric population have also been fully vaccinated as of the date of the status report, the DOH-13 said.

The rest of the priority groups with high numbers of full vaccinations include the rest of the adult population with 158,324; the A5 or indigenous population (152,128); and the A2 or senior citizens (127,868).

A total of 51,791 medical front-liners in the region have also been fully vaccinated, while 11,352 individuals from the outbound overseas Filipino Workers have received their full doses of the vaccine.

The rest of the priority groups reported by the DOH-13 as fully vaccinated are the pediatric population with comorbidities with 2,288, and the pregnant women with 1,468.
