Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, through the city school board, has approved PHP63.2 million worth of infrastructure projects for public schools in this capital city in anticipation of the resumption of in-person classes.
The construction and completion of the projects will be charged to the Special Education Fund for the eight public schools, the city public information office said Thursday in a social media post.
The projects will include the construction of a three-story/six-classroom school building and the completion of the two-story/two-classroom school building for the Camanjac National High School; a two-story/six-classroom school building for the Cantil-e Elementary School; two-story/eight-classroom school building and improvement of the covered stage for the Cadawinonan Elementary School; a two-story/eight-classroom school building for the North City Elementary School; a two-story/two-classroom school building and completion of the two-story/two-classroom building for the Junob National High School; a two-story/two-classroom school building for the Calindagan Elementary School; a two-story/eight-classroom school building for the South City Elementary School; and the electrical upgrade for the Dumaguete City National High School.
Both the city government and the Department of Education (DepEd) here have reiterated their commitment to “improve access and quality of instruction for the thousands of learners enrolled in the public schools,” the media release said.
City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde has lauded the mayor and the city government for their “consistent support” to DepEd-Dumaguete’s projects especially amidst the challenges during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
