Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, on Wednesday has ordered the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to expedite dismissal proceedings against two police officers from Rizal and Quezon City who were arrested in separate operations for involvement in illegal activities.

Citing reports reaching his office, Eleazar said Staff Sgt. Ariel Yalung was arrested in Quezon City by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in an operation against the illegal sale and overpricing of tocilizumab, a drug being used to treat coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients.

The operation stemmed from a complaint against three people who were selling Tocilizumab online for PHP95,000, almost triple the medicine’s suggested retail price ranging from PHP25,000 to PHP28,000.

Aside from Yalung, also arrested during the operation were Allan Raganit and Camilo Tieves Jr.

Meanwhile, Staff Sgt. June Angeles, was arrested by operatives of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group, in an entrapment on Monday, for allegedly extorting money from a spouse of a detainee at the San Mateo Municipal Police Station in Rizal.

Eleazar called on the public to immediately report if they have information on police officers involved in unscrupulous activities.
